Restituta Museum
Faith Against Nazi Violence

The Restituta Museum Faith Against Nazi Violence tells the moving story of the life and faith of Blessed Restituta (Helene Kafka). The exhibition follows her from her childhood and youth in the immigrant and working-class milieu of Vienna’s Brigittenau district, through her work as a Franciscan sister and nurse, to her courageous resistance against the National Socialist regime.

The focus is on her unwavering faith, her commitment to people, and her courageous actions in the face of injustice and persecution. At the same time, the museum commemorates all people who were mercilessly persecuted during this time for various reasons, especially those 18 women and men who were united with Sr. Restituta in their final hour under the guillotine on March 30, 1943.

Furthermore, the exhibition documents the veneration of Blessed Restituta, which remains vibrant to this day, and invites visitors to reflect on the themes of faith, moral courage, and humanity.
