At the initiative of Mr. Kurt Hiess, a resident of Marienhof Residential Communities GmbH, a Restituta Place of Strength, a new memorial site for the Blessed one, was established in Wiener Neustadt. This is located in front of Marienhof and diagonally opposite “Haus Restituta” on Komarigasse, which also received its name in 2023 at the initiative of Kurt Hiess.
Holy Mass and Blessing
Fr. Michael Weiss OCist, parish priest of the Abbey Parish and Prior of the Cistercian Monastery, celebrated Holy Mass and blessed Restituta’s Place of Strength. In his homily, he referred to the strength of Sister Restituta, who courageously stood up for her values and the human dignity of all in a turbulent time. He encouraged all participants to stand up for their fellow human beings and to reach out to them, following Restituta’s example, as far as their own strength allowed.
Human Dignity and Human Rights in Everyday Life
Hermann Heinrich, Managing Director of Marienhof Residential Communities GmbH, pointed out the connection between Restituta’s Place of Strength and the Marienhof workplace. The daily service to people also serves human rights and the protection of human dignity in everyday life, according to Hermann Heinrich.

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in Wiener Neustadt
Marienhof, “Haus Restituta,” and Restituta’s Place of Strength are located on property belonging to the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. They lived and worked in Wiener Neustadt from 1870 to 2009, primarily in nursing and elderly care.
