Pilgrimage to Mariazell

Pilgrimage to Mariazell

As a “worldwide community,” we made our annual pilgrimage to Mariazell on September 19, 2026. Several sisters from the motherhouse, sisters from Argentina, Sr. Monikka and her biological sister from India, as well as our postulant Maria Ny from Vietnam formed the community that traveled in two minibuses—driven by Mrs. Andreja Kusej and Mr. Ranko—as far as St. Pölten. From there, we continued by train on the “Himmelstreppe” in glorious weather through the picturesque Pielach Valley and the rocky Ötscher Gorges to Mariazell. The group of fifteen joyful sisters attracted the attention of many pilgrims, leading to very pleasant encounters.

At 11:15 a.m., we were able to participate in a festive Mass for several pilgrimage groups in the basilica. Lunch followed at the “Ochsenwirt”; afterward—and also before Holy Mass—there was ample time for personal prayer before Our Lady of Grace.

The bus journey home first led to a stop at the “Wuchtlwirtin,” where the enormous Wuchtln (sweet yeast dumplings) provided surprise and merriment.

Great thanks are due to Sr. Birgit for preparing and organizing this wonderful day of sisterly community in every respect.
